Tim and Tim have been running a gay B&B in Edinburgh for three decades. Their relationship is characterised by kind love and deep trust. with some Barbary Lane and Agatha Christie mixed in! A crazy quilt of literary genres In The Mirror, A Monster is the best of each Comedy, Mystery, Drama, Travelogue, Philosophy with a little gratuitous sex thrown in. Enjoy every page; I know I did!
This book is undeniably well-crafted with wonderfully well-realized characters. Human foibles are portrayed sympathetically and the resolutions, such as they are, that the characters reach during the course of the story are poignant.
This is one of the hardest books I've ever had the pleasure of reading. There is no such thing as following the rules in the publishing MM world with this story. Every single thing about it, is different. From the married characters to the lively ones they have come across and who do stay with them in their B&B type home, Mr. Weber tackles a lot in the strangest way possible. A killing without a murder? Awesome work here.
Tedious and long-winded. He`s an excellent writer, though and his dialect is fun. Couldn`t wait till it was over, though.
I am still trying to plough my way through this book as the Scottish words get in the way. It does not measure up to the fast paced Benedetto Casanova and Gabriel.
